Solar Energy: Reduce Energy Costs, Increase Energy Independence

Solar energy panels.

In Egypt’s competitive market, operational costs of solar energy directly impact your bottom line. Discover how solar energy systems deliver immediate cost reduction while positioning your organization as sustainability-forward. Our proven ROI model of solar energy shows payback within 5-7 years with decades of energy savings ahead.

Why Your Competitors Are Already Going Solar Energy

Every kilowatt-hour your facility consumes directly affects profitability. For commercial properties across Cairo and Giza, energy expenses represent a significant operational burden—one that grows annually with rising electricity rates.

SSCEgy’s solar solutions address this head-on, delivering measurable financial returns while strengthening your sustainability credentials.

The Financial Reality of Solar Energy

Our clients typically see:

  • 40-60% reduction in grid electricity consumption
  • Complete payback on installation within 5-7 years
  • 25+ years of near-zero energy costs (system lifespan)
  • Enhanced property valuation and corporate reputation

On-Grid vs. Off-Grid: Choosing the Right Solar Energy

SSCEgy designs both on-grid and off-grid photovoltaic systems, depending on the site’s electrical demand, grid availability, and operating requirements.

On-Grid Soler Energy Systems

  • Operate in parallel with the utility grid.
  • Solar generation directly offsets electricity purchased from the utility.
  • Battery storage is not normally required for the basic system.
  • Excess eligible generation can be exported to the grid under the applicable utility interconnection and net-metering framework.
  • Ideal for homes, offices, commercial buildings, factories, and facilities with reliable grid access.

Off-Grid Solar Energy Systems

  • Operate independently from the utility grid.
  • Combine photovoltaic panels, batteries, and an appropriately sized inverter/charger.
  • Provide energy where grid electricity is unavailable, unreliable, or too expensive to extend.
  • Ideal for remote facilities, farms, agricultural sites, and standalone buildings.

Solar Energy + Diesel for Farms: Reduce Diesel Dependence

For farms currently operating diesel generators or diesel-powered irrigation equipment, a photovoltaic system can work alongside the existing diesel infrastructure rather than requiring an immediate complete replacement.

During daylight hours, solar power can supply a significant portion of the farm’s electrical load, reducing diesel-generator runtime and fuel consumption. The diesel generator can remain available as backup when solar production is insufficient.

This hybrid approach can deliver:

  • Lower diesel fuel consumption
  • Fewer generator operating hours
  • Reduced fuel and maintenance costs
  • Greater energy independence
  • More predictable operating costs
  • Continued backup capability when solar production is low

For agricultural sites, we can engineer the system around the actual irrigation schedule, pump load, daily energy demand, and generator operating profile.

Illustrative 20 kW On-Grid Example

Consider a 20 kW photovoltaic system for a facility with good solar exposure. For illustration, assume:

  • System size: 20 kW
  • Average annual generation: approximately 29,000 kWh/year
  • Illustrative avoided electricity cost: EGP 2.50/kWh
  • Illustrative system investment: EGP 400,000
  • No battery storage for the basic on-grid configuration

The estimated annual electricity-cost saving would be approximately EGP 72,500.

That gives an indicative simple annual ROI of approximately 18.1%, with a simple payback/break-even point of approximately 5.5 years while the panels can stay up to 25 years.

After the payback period, the system continues generating electricity and reducing the amount purchased from the grid for the remainder of its operating life.

If the facility produces electricity that is not immediately consumed, eligible excess generation may also be exported to the utility under the applicable regulations and approved interconnection arrangement. This can further improve the project’s economics.

Important: The 20 kW example is an illustrative financial model, not a quotation. Actual ROI and break-even depend on the installed price, site irradiation, system losses, electricity tariff, consumption profile, export arrangements, financing terms, and maintenance costs.

On-Grid Energy & Excess Electricity

With an on-grid photovoltaic system, you can use the electricity you generate directly within your facility and, where applicable under the utility’s net-metering/interconnection framework, export eligible excess generation to the grid. For qualifying systems, up to 30% of excess electricity can be sold/exported to the utility, subject to the applicable regulations, approvals, and metering arrangements.

Our Comprehensive Approach

Unlike generic installers, we conduct rigorous site analysis accounting for:

  • Your facility’s specific energy consumption patterns
  • Seasonal variations and peak demand periods
  • Structural capacity and optimal panel placement
  • Integration with existing building systems and automation
